Learn techniques for safely enjoying paddlesports, the fastest growing segment of recreational boating activity in America, at “Paddle Smart”, presented by the Peconic Bay Power Squadron.
The seminar, part of the United States Power Squadron’s university series, will take place at 10 a.m. on June 21 at West Marine in Riverhead, followed by an optional on water activity on the Peconic River.
Paddlesports allow paddlers to get close to nature, have some fun and get exercise all at the same time, but without a little knowledge it can also be dangerous. This seminar will cover terminology (the paddle craft “language”), risks, trip planning, necessary equipment, safety equipment, optional equipment, cold water protection and how to have great time, while staying safe.
If you’re thinking about getting into paddling, are new to the sport, or an experienced paddler looking to upgrade equipment or learn more, this seminar is for you.
West Marine is located at 1089 Old Country Road in Riverhead. The seminar fee is $35.
